Duties & Responsibilities
To provide cost efficient maintenance of City buildings and grounds so that they are safe, functional and attractive for the public and City employees by conducting routine inspections and repairing all facilities utilizing professional construction and maintenance services in a timely manner.
  • To effectively resolve problems at early stages by the use of our preventative maintenance program. Thereby enabling us to prolong the useful life of our Facilities and equipment.
  • To repair it right the first time and save on costly follow up repairs.
  • To provide prompt courteous service whenever possible.
  • To create an environment that is both safe and healthy.
  • To set realistic timetables to keep projects on target.

Street Lights/Walkway Lights and Traffic Signals
Either perform or responsible for the maintenance of:
  • 255 City owned street lights
  • 88 City owned walkway lights
  • 368 ComEd street lights
  • 9 City owned traffic signal systems
  • 30 City owned Emergency Vehicle Pre-emption systems
