The Human Resources Department plays an integral role in the City of Rolling Meadows's strategic planning, benefit administration & maintenance, and policy development initiatives. Human Resources is part of the City Manager’s Office and responsibilities include the following:
Developing, educating, and influencing department heads and supervisors of all levels in the management of human resources.
Advising first line supervisors by gathering facts, diagnosing problems, providing solutions, and offering objective assistance and guidance on employee-related problems.
Providing procedures to follow for dealing with employee grievances, counseling employees on performance issues, and/or handling discipline.
Assisting department heads in negotiating and administering collective bargaining agreements with employees represented by labor unions.
Staying current on federal and state legislation affecting public employment.
Guaranteeing all employees and applicants equal treatment and opportunities under the law.
Maintaining all personnel files.
Educating and maintaining all benefits for the employees (ie. health insurance, workers compensation, life insurance, sick, vacation, etc.).
