The next process will likely open the following spring or summer. Please check back periodically for more information. ******************************************** Are you an active Law Enforcement Officer who is looking for an agency with traditional values and a non-traditional way of delivering service? Are you committed to Community Policing? Are you looking for an Internationally Accredited Agency that is devoted to professional excellence? Are you ready to join one of Chicagoland’s finest? If you can answer "YES" to these questions, then the Rolling Meadows Police Department is looking for you. The accelerated entry process is a progressive, cost effective means of hiring qualified experienced law enforcement professionals. Applicants must: be at least 21 years of age and not older that 40 years of age at the time of appointment, and be currently employed as a full time, non-probationary, certified law enforcement officer, or have been a full time, non-probationary, certified law enforcement officer in good standing no less than 180 days before commencement of the process, and possess a minimum of 48 college credit hours. All accelerated entry process candidates must provide documentation to show that their current responsibilities and duties are similar to those of a Police Officer in the City of Rolling Meadows. This will be accomplished through a combination of employee evaluations, past and current assignments, training certificates, and a written exercise. Applicants must further provide documentation that they have fulfilled the requirements of the Illinois Police Training Act. Those candidates that are out of state law enforcement officers must provide documentation that they have fulfilled the requirements of their respective training boards and be eligible to receive certification through the Illinois training board. Accelerated entry candidates who meet these requirements and are selected for accelerated entry will not be required to take an entry level written exam or entry level physical agility exam. Accelerated entry candidates will be required to complete all other phases of the entry process before an offer of employment. This process will also include: As of May 02, 2005, all persons accepting employment with the City of Rolling Meadows Police Department must agree that they will not smoke, chew, or use any tobacco products on duty during the entire tenure of their employment. If they do smoke, chew, or use any tobacco products while on duty at any time during the entire tenure of employment, they will be subject to dismissal for cause. This accelerated process usually takes less than two months from the time we accept applications until we post an eligibility list, which is considerably quicker than an entry-level test. Once hired, the accelerated applicant will be required to successfully complete a field training program and 18-month probation period.
