Cook County Crime Stoppers'
2007 Community Service Award

Rolling Meadows’ award-winning Police Neighborhood Resource Center picked up yet another commendation in September, when it was named the 2007 recipient of the Cook County Crime Stoppers’ Community Service Award.

Police Chief Steve Williams, Deputy Chief Ed Goodman and PNRC Director Victoria Bran accepted the award during a dinner reception at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Hotel.

 “The actions and dedication shown by you and your sense of duty to ensure justice prevails has helped to deter crime in your community,” the organization’s Board of Directors noted.  “Your personal time, drive and involvement in Rolling Meadows has made the City a safer place to live.  These attributes made it easy for our awards committee to unanimously select you.”

 “This is the second time the PNRC has been recognized by the Cook County Crime Stoppers,” explains Deputy Chief Goodman, who nominated the PNRC for the Community Service Award.  “The awards speak volumes about PNRC programs and services, and how they benefit our community.”

Since the PNRC was established in 1991, the crime rate in the surrounding area has fallen more than 50%, property values have risen, and trust between police and local residents has greatly increased.  The PNRC has drawn accolades from state, national, and international officials, and communities across the country continue to use the Center as a blueprint for creating their own community involvement programs.

Cook County Crime Stoppers is a nonprofit organization that works with community groups, law enforcement and the media to help solve and deter neighborhood crimes.  The group, which passes information provided by the public along to law enforcement agencies, has helped police solve more than 2,200 cases since its inception in 1985.
