Assistance Programs

Northwest Housing Partnership

Loan Programs: Qualified home owners may be eligible for a 0% interest deferred loan up to a maximum amount of $25,000 with no monthly payments as long as the homeowner lives in and retains title to the home.

To qualify for a loan at the minimum you must:

  1. Own and live in the home you wish to repair.
  2. Do not have money to pay for needed repairs.
  3. Have a total family income (before deductions) that is
    listed in the table provided by the NWHP.

Types of Improvements that can be made:

  1. Basic structural repairs
  2. Roofing
  3. Doors and Windows
  4. Electrical
  5. Plumbing
  6. Heating
  7. Weatherization

Every loan application will be considered and homes will be inspected by a building inspector and NWHP staff. If you qualify, you will be assisted with the entire rehabilitation process by the NWHP staff.

Rebuilding Together NW Suburban NFP
(formally Christmas in April)

Christmas in April is a community-based program dedicated to helping low-income, elderly and disabled homeowners live in warmth, safety and independence. This national organization brings skilled and unskilled volunteers together one day each year to provide home repairs for those who are physically or financially unable to maintain their homes.

CIC is Chicagoland’s leading multifamily rehab lender providing a reliable source of financing for acquisition, rehabilitation and preservation of rental housing.  CIC is certified by the U.S. Treasury Dept. as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.  They provide financing to buy and rehab apartment buildings in the six-county Chicago area.  CIC also provides property management training, assistance and advice to property owners to ensure long-term success of their real estate investments.

          Elevate Energy’s Energy Savers Program

Elevate Energy’s Energy Savers Program helps building owners tame high utility costs with a practical approach to energy efficiency and water conservation. Energy Savers helps to identify cost-effective improvements, financing and utility rebates, oversees construction, and verifies savings.   Building owners that implement the recommended energy efficient measures could potentially see a 30 percent savings on natural gas use.
