Rolling Meadows provides single sort recycling. Place all recyclables into recycling bins, and the state of the art recycling facility does the rest.

Paper Materials Accepted - All paper type products can be mixed together All paper type products can be mixed together

Newspaper

Includes weekly and Sunday newspapers and all inserts. Do not tie in bundles.

Magazines, Catalogs and Paper Back Books

All glossy magazines, catalogs and phone books

Corrugated Boxes (not exceeding 2' X 2') & Paper Bags

Non-waxed flattened corrugated cardboard cut to a size not exceeding 2' X 2' & all paper bags

Paperboard

Includes cereal and other dry food boxes, pop, beer, and egg cartons

Mixed Paper

Includes junk mail, computer paper, and stationary

Non-Paper Materials Accepted

Glass Bottles & Jars

All clear, brown, and green bottles and jars

Aluminum Cans & Foil

All aluminum containers for food and beverages, foil and pie plates 

Steel Cans

Steel and bi-metal food containers 1 gallon or less in size, and empty aerosol cans

Waxed Cardboard Drink Containers & Gable Top Containers

Juice boxes, milk cartons and juice containers

Plastic Containers and Can Carrier Rings

All clean plastic containers, #'s 1-7 with the exception of  those containing  pool chemicals, paint thinner and wood working products. All 6 and 12 pack can loop carriers.

Used Motor Oil

Used motor oil is accepted by the City at the

Combined Services Facility

3900 Berdnick Street only.

THE CITY OF ROLLING MEADOWS ALSO PROVIDES A 24 - HOUR RECYCLING DROP OFF CENTER FOR ALL ACCEPTABLE RECYCLABLES AT:    3200 CENTRAL ROAD

To comply with E.P.A. regulations, the following items are not accepted for recycling and should be taken to to a local retail outlet or a household hazardous waste collection site for proper disposal:

Tires, Batteries, Old Paint, Gasoline, Garden Chemicals, Antifreeze, and Propane Tanks.

The following are not currently accepted for recycling through the City's recycling program:

Toys, Plastic Bags, Light Bulbs, Plate Glass (windows), Pyrex, Ceramic and Shirt Hangers.
